9700 vehicles. The emergency light sensors may have been installed incorrectly, causing the emergency lights to fail to activate after a rollover event.
Remedy
Prevost will inspect and reinstall the emergency light sensors, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 30, 2022. Owners may contact Volvo

2022-09-09 Information regarding emergency light sensors potentially inadequately installed was reported to Prevost. The incorrect sensor installation was identified by Volvo
during an internal production inspection.
2022-09-09 Internal Volvo
and Prevost investigation was opened to identify the root cause and to determine if the issue is safety related.
2022-11-01 Case was presented on Volvo
Product Safety Working Group (PSWG) to evaluate if there is a potential safety related issue.
2022-11-10 Case was presented to Volvo
Product Safety Committee (PSC). It was concluded that there was a safety related defect and that a recall is needed.
2022-11-15 Safety Recall report submitted to authorities.

Confirm the axes on the sensor decal line up with the vehicle axes. The sensors just need to be mounted so that the X, Y, and Z axes on the decal line up with the vehicle axes. It does not matter if the X points to front or back of the bus, the top or bottom of the bus, or to either side of the bus. Just line up the sensor so that it lines up with one of the vehicle axes. Prevost Car US Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model year 2023 Volvo
9700 coaches. DEFECT DESCRIPTION On certain vehicles, the emergency lights sensors could have been inadequately installed during the vehicle assembly. Consequently, the emergency lights could fail to activate after a rollover event. SAFETY RISK If the vehicle is involved in a rollover event, the emergency lights might not activate, thus potentially increasing the emergency passenger evacuation time and the risk of injury. Prevost has not received any reports of death or injury associated with this defect. Therefore, we consider this as a proactive measure to protect the public from the potential risk associated with this defect. IDENTIFICATION OF ANY WARNING THAT CAN PRECEDE There is no warning with this issue. US recall notif letter REMEDY PROGRAM Prevost has released a repair procedure to remedy the affected vehicle population. Prevost will inspect and, if required, reinstall the emergency light sensors in the correct orientation on all potentially affected vehicles. Prevost will execute this correction free of charge (parts and labor) for the customers. 9700 coaches. DEFECT DESCRIPTION On certain vehicles, the emergency lights sensors could have been inadequately installed during the vehicle assembly. Consequently, the emergency lights could fail to activate after a rollover event. SAFETY RISK If the vehicle is involved in a rollover event, the emergency lights might not activate, thus potentially increasing the emergency passenger evacuation time and the risk of injury. Prevost has not received any reports of death or injury associated with this defect. Therefore, we consider this as a proactive measure to protect the public from the potential risk associated with this defect.
