Volvo Trucks
North America (Volvo Trucks
) is recalling certain 2024 VN and VHD vehicles equipped with size 295/75 or 385/65 Continental tires on the front axle. The Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) listed on the vehicle certification label is incorrect, which can allow the vehicle to be overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”
Remedy
Dealers will remove and replace the label, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 29, 2024. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks
customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo

Description of Defect:
The front axle rating on the vehicle certification label is incorrect.
Improper value shown on the label could subject the vehicle to misuse, which could result in a crash.
There have been no field reports, warranty claims, or customer complaints associated with this issue. The remedy will be to will be to remove the existing label and replace it with a corrected label..

Dealer’s Responsibility:
The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act and Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Act requires dealers to ensure that all new and used vehicles are free of safety defects and comply with all relevant safety standards at the time of delivery to the consumer.
Dealers should make their personnel aware of the safety recall. In the event that a dealer has a vehicle included in the safety recall in their inventory to be sold, the condition must be corrected before releasing it to a customer.
Release Schedule:
- Vehicle list will be posted on the Trucks Dealer Portal December 6, 2023.
- Owner notification letters will be released on or before January 29, 2024.

has determined that certain model year 2024 VNL, VHD Vehicles may have been built with the incorrect vehicle GVWR/GAWR label information.
Follow the repair instructions outlined in this document to remove GVWR/GAWR label in the door jamb and install new vehicle GVWR/GAWR label.

Repair Instructions
1. Secure vehicle for service.
2. Place the transmission in park or neutral.
3. Install wheel chocks.
4. Open the driver’s door.
5. Use a plastic scraper and adhesive remover to remove the old vehicle GVWR/GAWR label.
6. Install the new vehicle GVWR/GAWR label in the door jamb.
7. Release truck back to service.

Note
A campaign completion label (part number 85152363) needs to be installed on truck if not previously installed. To signify the campaign has been completed, use a permanent marker (Such as a Sharpe ®) to write the recall number, completion date (MM/DD/YYY) and dealer code on the label. The label is to be applied to the inside of the passenger door as shown in the illustrations below.

Parts Information
Ordering Process:
When ordering a vehicle GVWR/GAWR label, an E-service case must be started.
▪ Start an E-Service under the Parts Specifications Group.
▪ Reference the recall number in the description field of the E-Service.
▪ Parts Specification Group will recreate the label and FedEx it at no cost to the dealer.
Important Parts Note
• Only one VIN is allowed per E-service case.
• The dealer will not be invoiced for the new label.
• The dealer will not need to complete the standard (Vehicle Certification Label Application)
