9700 vehicles. The castellated nut securing the steering gear link rod to the steering arm may be loose and allow the link rod to detach.
Remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the repair has been performed. Prevost will inspect and tighten the castellated nuts and install new cotter pins as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 22, 2024. Owners may contact Volvo
Bus customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Volvo

Group Mexico. The field report indicated that a Volvo
9800 vehicle operating in Mexico (Substantially Similar Vehicle to Volvo
9700 sold in U.S.) experienced a sudden loss of steering control that led to a vehicle collision with a roadside barrier (one reported accident).
2024-01-30 Internal Volvo
investigation was opened to identify the root cause and to determine if the issue is safety related.
2024-01-31 Delivery Stop was issued at the Mexico manufacturing facility to stop the delivery of vehicles until the investigation is completed and corrective actions are implemented.
2024-01-31 Internal campaign was launched to solve the issue on all vehicles in production before being delivered.
2024-02-02 Case was presented on Volvo
Product Safety Evaluation Committee (PSEC) to evaluate if there is a potential safety-related issue. Decision made to raise the potential safety issue to Volvo
Product Safety Committee (PSC) for review and determination.

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Prevost will adequately torque the castellated nut and install a new cotter
pin on all subject vehicles. Letters will be sent to customers to inform them on how to proceed. Prevost will execute this correction free of charge (parts and labor) for the customers. In case a customer has already inspected and corrected this defect before the safety recall has been launched, this customer will be reimbursed according to Prevost reimbursement plan. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The issue concerns an inadequately installed component, and not a defective component. After the remedy, the castellated nut will be adequately torqued and secured with a cotter pin.
The recall condition was corrected in production on January 31, 2024, when an internal campaign was launched. All vehicles are corrected prior to delivery. Recall Schedule :

Dear Customer,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Prevost Car US Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in
certain 2024 Volvo
9700 passenger coaches.
DEFECT DESCRIPTION
On certain vehicles, the castellated nut securing the steering gear link rod to the steering
arm may loosen, possibly causing a loss of steering control.
SAFETY RISK
A sudden loss of steering control may increase the risk of a crash. In addition to the Safety
Recall, Volvo
issued a “Do Not Drive Warning” for this defect until the vehicles are
remedied.
IDENTIFICATION OF ANY WARNING THAT CAN PRECEDE
There is no warning associated with this issue.
REMEDY PROGRAM
Prevost has released a repair procedure to inspect, tighten the castellated nuts, and install
new cotter pins as necessary. The service and required parts will be provided free of
charge.

until the vehicles are remedied.

have it serviced.

PART AND LABOR CLAIM
Prevost will reimburse you as described in SR24-82 procedure. Please file an online
warranty claim following normal campaign procedures if you are a registered customer,
otherwise, contact the Prevost Warranty Department at 1-866-870-2046 for reimbursement
instructions.
NOTICE REGARDING LEASED VEHICLES
If you are a Lessor of vehicles subject to this Notice, you have an obligation under Federal
Law to send a copy of this Notice to all Lessees within 10 days.
PRE-NOTIFICATION REMEDIES
If you have previously paid for repairs as a result of this issue, you may be entitled to
recovery of those expenses. Prevost Car US will reimburse the claimant by check for the
reasonable amount paid for repairs (i.e. the cost of parts, labor, disposal fees and taxes)
that addressed the defect as stated in the safety recall notification. To qualify, repairs must
have been completed no earlier than one year prior to the release of the recall and no later
than 10 days after the release of the recall mailing of the initial customer notification letter
pertaining to the recall. To get reimbursed, please file an online warranty claim following
normal Campaign procedures if you are a registered customer, otherwise, contact the
Prevost Warranty Department at 1-866-870-2046 for reimbursement instructions.
REIMBURSEMENT OF PRE-NOTIFICATION REMEDIES
When a Prevost vehicle is affected by a safety recall and the owner/purchaser (claimant)
has the safety-related defect or FMVSS regulatory noncompliance remedied at their own
expense prior to receiving the manufacturer notification of the safety recall, Prevost Car (US)
