SAFETY RECALL Volvo Trucks North America Greensboro, NC USA Date Number Release Page 11.2021 RVXX2105 01 1(3) ZF Power Steering Pump Replacement VN RECALL INFORMATION (November, 2021) Volvo has determined that certain model year 2021 trucks may have been built with a defective power steering pump. The possible defect in the power steering pump could cause it to leak power steering fluid. If this happens, there could be a loss of power steering assist. A loss of power steering assist may result in a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds. This could increase the risk of a crash. Volvo Trucks has not received any complaints or reports of vehicle crashes because of this issue. To ensure that these vehicles meet Volvo’s stringent safety standards, the replacement of the power steering pump will be required. VEHICLES AFFECTED Certain Volvo North America vehicles manufactured between June 22, 2020 and August 17, 2020. VEHICLE QUANTITY There are 3 vehicles affected by this recall (3 U.S., 0 Canada). SAFETY DEFECT: On certain trucks, a defect in the power steering pump could cause it to leak power steering fluid. If this happens, there could be a loss of power steering assist. SAFETY RISK: A loss of power steering assist may result in a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds. This could increase the risk of a crash. PRECAUTIONS YOU CAN TAKE: TIME REQUIRED FOR THE REPAIR: There are no precautions you can take other than having your vehicle repaired by a Volvo Parts and Service Center.
