SAFETY RECALL INFORMATION:
(JULY 2019)
VOLVO Trucks
North America has determined that a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain VN 2019 and 2020 model vehicles manufactured from April 2, 2018 to March 28, 2019. The torque applied to the t-bolt clasps on the transmission auxiliary air tank straps may have been over-torqued potentially causing deformation to the strap where the t-bolt is anchored. The deformation may allow the t-bolt to disconnect from the strap allowing the tank to drop to the ground, which may result in debris on the road presenting a risk to other road users.
VOLVO Trucks
North America has received no reports of personal injury as a result of this condition. Therefore, VOLVO Trucks
North America considers this as a proactive measure to protect the public and VOLVO
’s customers from the potential risk associated with this defect.
QUANTITY of VEHICLES AFFECTED

Subject: I-Shift Transmission ECU Fuse and Auxiliary Air Tank Safety Recalls
Volvo Trucks
North America has identified two safety-related defects in certain VAH, VHD, VNL and VNM models.
I-Shift Transmission ECU Fuse
The first recall (RVXX1903) is on certain MY 2018-2020 VAH, VHD, VNL and VNM models manufactured from June 13, 2017 through March 28, 2019. On certain trucks, the fuse used in a transmission circuit has a rating that is lower than what is required. The risk is the fuse can open under normal operating conditions and cause the transmission to not shift. This does not affect the brake system; however, under certain conditions this may contribute to a vehicle crash.
The total number of affected trucks is 530 (235 in the U.S., 265 in Canada and 30 in Mexico).
I-Shift Transmission Auxiliary Air Tank
The second recall (RVXX1904) is on certain MY 2019-2020 VAH, VHD, VNL and VNM models manufactured from July 2, 2018 through March 28, 2019. On certain trucks, the torque applied to the t-bolt clasps on the transmission auxiliary air tank straps may have been over-torqued causing deformation to the strap where the t-bolt is anchored. The deformation may allow the t-bolt to disconnect from the strap, allowing the tank to drop to the ground which may result in debris on the road presenting a risk to other road users.
Total number of affected trucks is 20,590 (17,069 in the U.S., 3,111 in Canada and 410 in Mexico).
We will be performing safety recalls to address the affected vehicles. Production is not affected as corrective action has been introduced and there have been no reported accidents.
